Welcome to Build your Visual Vocabulary!
This is the first module in my Graphic Facilitation for ELT professionals series.
Learning how to draw is just like learning a new language. Everyone can do it. It just takes a little time and practice.
Drawings are a visual vocabulary and a powerful communication tool. Learning how to draw some basic icons quickly can help you:
- communicate effectively
- engage your learners
- make your lessons memorable
- aid student understanding
- support your learners note taking skills
- encourage critical thinking
- inspire others
This course will teach you some essential icons to make your lessons, whiteboards, flipcharts and resources more engaging.
I recommend using this course to start your visual dictionary. Once you have practised drawing each icon, add it to a notebook, ringbinder or digital file. Review this frequently and add any new icons that you learn to draw.
As you move through this course, you can use the ‘Notes’ function to add your ideas. You can download these as a word file later. Use this function to keep note of any icons you’d like to learn to draw, or any teaching ideas you think of as you complete the course.
To get your certificate, you’ll need to mark every lesson as complete. You can do this as you go using the ‘mark complete’ buttons.
This is the first course in a series of courses in Graphic Facilitation for ELT Professionals. Once you have built your visual vocabulary, why not try one of my other courses or workshops? Join my mailing list, or check my social media for updates.
I believe people learn best with tutor support. That’s why this course also offers an exclusive facebook group. Use this to share your work and ideas with other teachers, and receive personalised feedback from me. You can access the group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/graphicfacilitationforelt
Facebook Group tips and rules:
- Share your ideas, be inspired, be encouraging. Everyone loves positive feedback..
- Only share your work.. This is a safe space. Please don’t share other people’s intellectual property inside or outside the group.
- The group is only for participants and alumni of Emily Bryson ELT courses.
